THE SHAME OF JUDAS

I sat beside that rugged cross
And shed my tears of shame
For it was I who put him there
Caused all his suffering and pain
I don't know who suffered most
As they drove the nails in deep
I still sit beside this old cross
Where he was put to sleep
~ + ~
They say he'll come again
He'll rise up from the grave
And all will be forgiven
And the whole world will be saved
But I still sit beneath this cross
Hang my head and deny my name
Oh! will this man come back to us
And relieve me from my shame
