Greetings Friends,
Now, a little about myself. My name is Bill Vanderbilt Presently I reside in the very small town of West Newton, Pa in the USA. I have been divorced for nearly 20 years now and as time goes on, I like the single life less and less. I have 3 wonderful children. Heather, 27, Christina, 26 and last but certainly not least, Billy age 9. They are all just wonderful children and I love them dearly

I was born in Ohio. The oldest of 5 children. I attended Catholic schools until the 8th grade. My parents divorced around the time I was entering the 8th grade and I went to live with my father. We moved several times back and forth between Ohio and Pennsylvania during the rest of my high school years. During my senior year I left home and headed for California. I call that my chasing rainbows period. I was always looking for something that didn't exist where I was. In route to California, I happened to find my mother and my brothers and sisters, purely by chance. You see, I never communicated with my mother from age 12 until age 18 and I really didn't even know where she lived. I had heard from someone that Mom lived in Junction City Kansas so on my way to California I happened to be going right past there and decided to see if I could find my family. Well, I did find them with the help of the local postmaster. I stayed with my family until I graduated and then hit the road again. Back to Ohio to get engaged to my high school sweetheart whom I had left behind.
We were married the following year. We had our two beautiful daughters 5 and 6 years later. They were born 3 days less than a year apart. We remained married for 17 years. We were married June 17 1972 and I was in the US Air Force Sep 1, 1972.
Just to stop short of anyone falling asleep, I think I'll stop right here. I will be reveling much more about myself as we venture in to this journey of mental health and illness. I now devote much of my time advocating for the rights of the people in this world who suffer with a mental illness. Mental illness is a condition of the mind and body that for some reason is seldom recognized as an illness. It is way too often looked upon as some sort of character flaw that is the fault of the victim. It is my intention to help eliminate the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness. I hope to accomplish this by sharing my experience, knowledge and the collective resources of all of those involved with mental illness. Education, understanding and compassion
are the three main tools that I use in my quest to improve the lives
of those who suffer with mental illness. Thank you for your time and interest and I look forward to the rest of our journey together
Sincerely,
Bill VanderbiltŠ2005
